Honeywell Introduces HCD484E True Day/Night Camera

Easy-to-Install Camera Ideal for Environments with Round-the-Clock

LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 28, 2006 - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today introduced the HCD484E true day/night camera, featuring a movable IR cut filter for optimum performance in the daytime or nighttime.

The HCD484E can be used indoors, or when paired with Honeywell's HHC12 Series of environmental housings, for outdoor applications, such as parking lots, building entryways and driveways. The IR cut filter is in front of the image sensor during the day for true color rendition and at night, is removed to take advantage of increased infrared sensitivity. The changeover from day to night is controlled by internal logic based on scene illumination, an external light sensor, or RS485 communication port.

In addition to its day/night features, the HCD484E also has variable AGC settings for optimal image brightness and noise during low light conditions, as well as a six-zone backlight compensation system for ensuring proper exposure. An On-Screen Display (OSD) menu structure allows for easy setup.

"Honeywell understands that many customers require continuous surveillance. The HCD484E is an ideal solution because it's easy to install, has superb low-light performance, and is cost effective," said Peter Simmons, product manager for Honeywell Video Systems.

Other features of the HCD484E include:

  • Autosensing 12 VDC or 24 VAC dual voltage with transient surge protection for flexible connection without compromising image quality
  • Excellent low-light sensitivity, down to 0.06 lux, for impeccable image detail when used with Honeywell's IR Corrected Aspherical Vari-focal Auto Iris Lenses, the HLD29V8DNL, 2.9-8mm, F0.95, HLD27V13DNL, 2.7-13.5mm, F1.3 and the HLD5V50DNL, 5-50mm, F1.6.
